Month-by-Month Breakdown
September to November (Autumn) โ The Sweet Spot
Many local coaches consider October and November to be the absolute best months of the year. The North Atlantic swell machine wakes up, sending consistent 4โ6ft groundswells to Tamraght's beaches (Devil's Rock, Croco) and point breaks (Banana Point, Panoramas). The water remains around 20ยฐC (68ยฐF), and daytime temperatures easily reach 26ยฐC (79ยฐF).
December to February (Winter) โ Peak Powerhouse Swells
Winter is when Morocco turns on its world-famous right-hand point breaks. Deep low-pressure systems over the Atlantic send massive groundswells straight into Taghazout Bay. Iconic spots like Anchor Point, Killer Point, Mysteries, and Boilers fire on all cylinders with peeling right-handers lasting hundreds of meters.
For beginners and early intermediates, the protected bays of Imsouane, Banana Beach, and Anza offer gentle, manageable waves sheltered from excessive swell energy.
March to May (Spring) โ Sun, Empty Lineups & Long Days
As spring arrives, daylight hours extend, winter crowds thin out, and the Atlantic continues to deliver clean, highly shapely swells in the 3โ6ft range. Spring mornings are almost always glassy with light offshore winds. It is the perfect time for intermediate surf progression, surf-skate clinics, and sunset rooftop yoga.
June to August (Summer) โ Gentle Waves & Warm Seas
Summer brings smaller, playful beach break waves to Tamraght. With water temperatures reaching 22ยฐC (72ยฐF), it is a wonderful time for first-time surfers to learn the fundamentals of paddling, wave catching, and popping up in a relaxed, warm-water environment.
What Wetsuit Should You Bring?
For 90% of the year (September through May), a standard 3/2mm full steamer wetsuit is ideal. If you feel the cold easily during dawn patrols in January or February, a 4/3mm suit offers extra warmth.
Note: At Skate Surf Camp Morocco, all wetsuit and surfboard rentals (soft-tops, hard-tops, and performance epoxy boards) are included with your coaching package.
